Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to browse our food and order from us, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.
The standard we work to
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for accessible websites.
How we check
Before we publish changes, every page of this website is checked with pa11y, an automated accessibility checker, at desktop and phone screen widths, and the home page is also checked with Google Lighthouse. We fix what they find. On September 11, 2026, every page passed pa11y’s WCAG 2.1 Level AA check with no errors, at both widths.
Automated tools catch many problems but not all of them, so we also want to hear from the people using the site.
What the site does to help
- A Skip to main content link at the top of every page, for keyboard and screen reader users.
- Written descriptions (alternative text) on our product photographs.
- When you add something to your cart, screen readers announce it and how many items the cart now holds.
- The moving row of products on our home page has a Pause button, and it stops while your mouse pointer, your finger or your keyboard is on it.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site switches its animations off and nothing moves on its own.
- Every address is written out as text, not only shown on a map.
Known limitations
- Some things move on their own and have no pause button: the photo slideshows at the top of the home, products, about, FAQ and contact pages, the two rotating photos of our market stall and kitchen further down the about page, the strip of words under the home page’s first photo, and the customer reviews on the home page. The reviews stop while your mouse pointer is over them, and every review is also on Google through the “Read them on Google” link. None of them holds information you cannot find elsewhere on the site.
- The two maps on our home page are provided by Google, and we cannot change how accessible they are. The address of each market is written out as text right beside its map.
To stop all of the moving content at once, turn on your device’s reduce-motion setting:
- Windows: Settings, then Accessibility, then Visual effects, and turn off Animation effects.
- Mac: System Settings, then Accessibility, then Display, and turn on Reduce motion.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings, then Accessibility, then Motion, and turn on Reduce Motion.
- Android: Settings, then Accessibility, and turn on Remove animations. The exact menu names vary between phones.
